It started out as a fun activity packed girls weekend away but quickly changed to a lockdown…Lucky for us we can make our own fun.
Day 1
I borrowed Adairs fantastic Toyota Granvia, now known by all in my family as the Vengabus. This six-seat bus is a marvel of luxury with reclining heated seats and footrests on all four rear bucket seats. You would think there would be plenty of room but boy the girls in my family take a lot of stuff. Six women and five days’ food and drinks led to a game of luggage Tetris before we could leave. Once off it was a fantastic trip with the new west connex making the trip super fast and easy.
When we arrived, WOW! The accommodation was on a Magical acreage with abundant wildlife and Alpacas.
Day 2
After a morning stroll around the dam and paddocks of the property and an attempt to meet the shy alpacas, it was off for High tea at the Hydro Majestic. The views were simply stunning and the venue is an experience of serenity and class.
After returning back to the house we decided a recovery bushwalk (because it sounds better than dirt road walk) was in order. Off we headed to Hargraves lookout. Such a beautiful part of the world.
Day 3
All rugged up our first stop was a walk around Wentworth falls lake, so windy mum nearly got blown over. A brief spot of shopping before hearing we were heading into a lockdown. With not much time left, we took a quick trip down to Megalong valley for afternoon tea before heading back to research the lockdown rules to see if we were indeed allowed to stay.
Day 4
Not such a hard place to be locked down. After our regular morning walk around the property, breakfast and a bit of wood chopping for the inside fire, it was off for a local walk where we came across a local orchard that was open. One box of apples and some hot spiced apple juice later we set off home with pockets full of apples. No wind today so the perfect opportunity for a sneaky bevvy by the firepit, followed by an evening spotlighting walk, unfortunately, nothing was spotted (suspect that was due to us being too noisy)
Day 5
My daughter and niece had never seen the three sisters so our exercise for the day included a short walk at Echo Point. It was such an odd feeling and Photo opportunity with absolutely no one there to share the extraordinary views. Back in the car homeward bound, the best thing about lockdown is not much traffic which leads to a super quick trip home.
Scenic world, Night hikes and fancy restaurants you will all have to wait till we can come back.
